The world of RUINSTATE
The old world is gone. What's left is a wasteland of 17 regions, each harder and stranger than the last.
Seven eras
Regions belong to eras — Scrap, Outpost, Stronghold, Verge, Relic, Dominion, Sovereign — and the world grows more advanced and more dangerous as you climb. You unlock regions as you get stronger, then travel to them.
The regions
- Ash Basin — Burned outskirts, dry wells and picked-over houses, where survivors fight for water, scrap and a roof.
- Rust Corridor — Dead rail lines, stalled freight and a highway junction where whoever controls movement controls trade.
- The Drowned Grid — A flooded city where pumping stations and live substations decide which streets stay dry and lit.
- Cinder Reach — Foundries, slag lots and a river port: the first place since the Quiet End that makes real steel.
- Black Spine — A quarried ridge of old army bunkers, held by garrisons who never stopped following orders.
- Halo Line — Buried launch groundworks and a field of tracking dishes, still powered and still listening to the sky.
- Salt Verge — White salt flats beyond the old maps, where water stills, salt kilns and a rusted tide lock mean survival.
- The Long Static — Plains of radio masts and dead broadcast towers, where information is the most valuable cargo.
- Deadman Aqueduct — A colossal stone aqueduct carrying the last clean water in the Verge, ruled by valve keepers and a cistern cult.
- Vault Meridian — A fortress city of vaults and counting halls, where old-world records, debts and machines survived intact.
- The Sealed Archive — A buried pre-collapse records vault in the Relic wastes. Its blast doors opened after a century — and the machines that kept it sealed are still awake inside.
- Glasswater Flats — The old desert vitrified into a blinding frontier of mirror pans, razor dunes, and fused shorelines.
- The Hollow Crown — The old ruling quarter stands empty but not unclaimed: polished ramparts, dead courts, and a throne worth killing for.
- Iron Tithe — An industrial toll empire where every road, machine, and living body is measured, priced, and collected.
- The Ember Choir — A burning cult city of bell foundries and pyres, ruled by a choir that never lets its fires die.
- Grey Harrow — Restored heartland farms and bone mills that feed what is left of the world, under one hand.
- Last Signal — The edge of the world, where the final broadcast still plays from the Final Mast.
